Agri Plan & GASAU Programme

Objective

- Relocate experienced and financially capable agri farmers from Gauteng, South Africa,  

   to Mutare, Zimbabwe.

- Leverage their expertise, machinery, and financial resources to boost agricultural productivity in Zimbabwe. - Establish a sustainable export route for agricultural products from Mutare to Beira, Mozambique.  

- Educate and empower local Zimbabwean farmers through the **GASAU Programme** 

  (Greenhouse Against  Substance Abuse and Upliftment Programme).

Key Stakeholders

- Redzo Harvest Zimbabwe: Leasing over 1,000 hectares of land at below-market rates.

- Agri Farmers from Gauteng: Financially capable farmers with machinery, knowledge, and expertise.

- Local Zimbabwean Farmers: Beneficiaries of education and skills transfer.

- Government of Zimbabwe: Regulatory and logistical support. 

- Beira Port Authorities: Facilitating export routes.

Steps to Relocate Farmers

Land Allocation: Redzo Harvest Zimbabwe will lease over 1,000 hectares of fertile land in Mutare at below-market rates to attract Agri farmers.

- Incentives for Farmers: Offer tax breaks, reduced lease rates, and access to local labour via GASAU to incentivize relocation.

- Logistical Support: Assist with Customs & Border Control for the transportation of machinery, equipment, and livestock from Gauteng to Mutare. 

- Infrastructure Development: Ensure access to irrigation, storage facilities, and roads to support farming activities.

Export Route from Mutare to Beira

- Transportation: Establish a reliable transportation network (road and rail) from Mutare to Beira Port.

- Storage Facilities: Build or upgrade storage facilities in Mutare to preserve agricultural products before export.

- Partnerships: Collaborate with Beira Port authorities to streamline customs and export processes.

- Products for Export: Focus on high-demand crops such as maize, soybeans, tobacco, and horticultural products.

GASAU Programme

- Building Greenhouses for Sustainable development. 

- Training Local Farmers: Gauteng farmers will train local Zimbabwean farmers in modern agricultural techniques, machinery operation, and sustainable practices.

- Workshops and Seminars: Conduct regular workshops to share knowledge on crop rotation, pest control, and soil management.

- Mentorship: Pair Agri farmers with local farmers for ongoing mentorship and support.

- Community Development: Invest in local communities by building schools, clinics, and other infrastructure.

Financial Model

- Investment by Agri Farmers: Farmers will invest in machinery, seeds, and infrastructure.

- Revenue Sharing: Profits from agricultural exports will be shared between Agri farmers, Redzo Harvest Zimbabwe, and local farmers and community.

- Government Support: Seek funding or grants from the Zimbabwean government and international organizations to support the initiative.

Timeline

- Phase 1 (0-6 months): Land allocation, Infrastructure & Greenhouse development, and relocation of farmers.

- Phase 2 (6-12 months): Start farming activities, establish export routes, and launch the GASAU Programme.

- Phase 3 (12-24 months): Scale up production, expand export volumes, and measure the impact on local communities.

Expected Outcomes

- Increased agricultural productivity in Mutare and surrounding areas.

- Creation of jobs and economic opportunities for local Zimbabweans.

- Improved skills and knowledge among local farmers.

- Establishment of a sustainable export route to Beira, boosting Zimbabwe’s economy.

- Long-term goal: Make Zimbabwe a regional agricultural powerhouse again.
